Exploring Entrepreneurship Academy is a program for High School students interested in learning how to start a business. From ideation to implementation, students are engaged in the process of creating a product (prototype) and promoting their concept during Dare 2 Believe Young Entrepreneur Marketplace Events. This “Project Based Learning” program is designed to engage students teaching business problem solving and leadership skills through a “hands on” entrepreneurship experience.
Exploring Entrepreneurs 1.0 is a mostly virtual program that provides an opportunity for High School students to learn foundational principles of entrepreneurship with support in starting a business. Teen Enterprise will facilitate this project based learning program in 20 virtual classroom sessions covering the following topics:

About Teen Enterprise
Teen Enterprise was created with the mission of empowering youth through providing experiential learning opportunities and resources for teens in the development of entrepreneurial skills. Our purpose is to provide opportunities for students to learn business by doing business. We are committed to bringing academic and business communities together in teaching entrepreneurship with application through hands on learning. Programming is designed to enhance teen empowerment, build resiliency, positive identity, self-esteem as well as entrepreneurial life skills needed to compete in the global economy and create pathways to a brighter future.
Tory Coats- Founder and CEO
As an Entrepreneur and Youth Advocate, Tory is committed to utilizing his talents and resources to empower others from disadvantaged communities.
Tory has over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience leading multiple for profit ventures and social enterprises. With over 10 years’ experience in social work, Tory finds his purpose in empowering youth through providing experiential learning opportunities and resources for teens in the development of entrepreneurial skills.
Tory is the creator of the Dare 2 Believe Young Entrepreneur Pop Up Shops, an initiative designed to renovate vacant store front properties and host marketplace events for teen entrepreneurs. This project won grand prize at the Cleveland Leadership Center 2018 Accelerate Civic Innovation Pitch Competition.
Tory is also head of workforce development initiatives with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio. As Director of Career Readiness, Tory is committed to preparing young people for future careers through developing programming designed to enhance job skills and provide learning experiences in creating a pathway in which they can reach their full potential as productive, caring a responsible citizens.
Christopher Moore- Entrepreneurship Education Director
Christopher (Chris) Moore is an educator and has been in the teaching field for nearly 20 years. He currently works at Euclid High School in Euclid, Ohio, as an Intervention Specialist, teaching students who have emotional disabilities. As a youth advocate, Chris believes that teaching goes beyond what can be learned in books and the classroom. Chris implements life skills and real-life experiences into teaching and introduces new ways for his students to learn, think and grow. Chris is a chief advocate for the youth that he teaches and watching his students thrive, despite life’s adversity or their disabilities, is his dream and greatest passion.
Chris believes that he has the unique ability to reach the unreachable. Much of his knowledge and experience has been gained through working with students in an alternative school setting at Positive Education Program (PEP) in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Chris has worked with youth through many avenues including, tutoring, teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to students, coaching high school football and youth soccer, and even being a part of youth programs, such as the R.E.A.C.H. program through University School in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to teaching, Chris has a wife and three kids of his own and is a leader in the community serving teens and adults in his local church.
Chris has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Special Education (Intervention Specialist K-12) and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Michael Thompson- Program Facilitator
Michael Thompson is an educator, coach and mentor who works with middle school students in Cleveland, Ohio. His passion is to teach the youth on entrepreneurship and financial literacy while emphasizing the importance of giving back within their communities.
Michael prides himself on being a positive example for the youth and educating them on respect, accountability, perseverance and the importance of having a growth mindset.
Not only is Michael an entrepreneur himself but he has also been in urban education for over 5 years, impacting hundreds of students throughout Northeast Ohio. His plans are to continue to use his educational background as well as his career experiences to train and develop our future generations of entrepreneurs.
Michael holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from The University of Toledo in addition to being a state certified Business Education teacher for grades K-12.
